A matrix is a rectangular arrangement of rows and columns. A matrix having m rows and n columns is called an m by n matrix. 2 matrices are said to be equal if they have the same order and corresponding elements are equal.

A row matrix is a matrix having only 1 row. A column matrix is a matrix having only 1 column. A matrix having every element 0 is called the null matrix.
